For the third year in a row we went to Bass Pro to get Luca’s picture taken with Santa. Even though we went on exactly the same day as last year, the line was absolutely crazy (everyone must have gotten the memo that Santa is FREE at Bass Pro). So, we waited in line about 45 minutes, which actually was not as bad as it sounds. We tried and tried to get Luca acclimated with Santa before the two actually met. We continuously pointed at Santa, told Luca stories about Santa, etc. However, both Tyler and I could tell Luca was not buying it. When it became his turn in the cattle call we trotted on up and Luca immediately put on his breaks. He wanted nothing to do with Kris Kringle! I’m pretty sure the picture says it all.
So, I decided to try this visit one more time. Rather than going at night (Tyler and I took him the first time), the second time around we went at 10 in the morning, right when Santa opened. We were the only ones in line and we got to take our time meeting Santa. Luca was still quite hesitant, but Santa did an amazing job drawing Luca toward him. Santa engaged Luca in a conversation about Hero (a train) and eventually Luca entertained the idea of sitting (err standing) on his lap.
Obviously I would have liked for the picture to only be of Luca and Santa, but at least this picture has everyone seemingly happy.
Best shot of the day!
After visiting Santa, Luca got to play with the train track. He loves how fast it went and how he could control it.
Grandma “Sue” and Luca
Taking a ride on the moose. This was one of the highlights of the morning (the line was obnoxiously long the night we took Luca).
The biggest highlight of the morning was seeing the fish in the aquarium. Luca and I have been going to Cabela’s (shhh don’t tell Bass Pro) and treating the store like a zoo during the cold days of winter. We go about once a week and watch the fish and then check out all the animals. They might not move, but they appear real. Luca always loves all the fish and stuffed ducks. I have to admit, I’ve gotten quite enamored with the fish as well.
